Cupcake bakeries are definitely in (and trust me, I’d know – I consider a visit to a city wasted unless I’ve checked out a good cupcake bakery. But for some reason, brownies haven’t taken off in the same kind of way. I think that’s a bit sad, because brownies are pretty amazing. They’re incredibly easy to transport and can be anything from gooey fudge brownies to soft cake-like brownies. And Patricia Helding’s Fat Witch Bakery is one of the best brownie makers and one of the few brownie bakeries.
In Fat Witch Bake Sale, Helding is focusing on treats which can be easily cut up and transported, tray bakes which can easily be sold or brought into school or work for special events. I thought the book was great, with a lot of recipes for special diets, such as slightly more healthy recipes, vegan goodies and gluten free goodies. This is defined as a bake sale how-to, but I think it’s also useful for people like me, who post quite a bit of sweets and love to give away sweets to friends and family.

8.8 ounces granulated sugar

6 ounces unsalted butter
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2.8 ounces plain flour

I received a copy to review from Rodale Books, but all opinions are my own. This is a post with affiliate links to support my baking love!
