Things I’m Looking Forward to this Spring

Look, I am shallow – give me a pretty bundt pan and all is right with the world.  But I’m particularly excited because there are a lot of cool things I’m very excited for this season – not to mention the sunshine!

I have to start with two things that are not food related.

Yep, Captain America 2 and Game of Thrones returning – massive scifi nerd that I am, I can’t wait for either of these to show up on my screen.  There’s a lot of totally valid criticism out that about the way Marvel has yet to figure out that a female superhero can function just fine without a male sidekick or the overload of female nudity on Game of Thrones, but I definitely tune in to see Arya Stark and Natasha Romanoff breaking down gender boundaries (while being part of an entertaining story.)

How cute are these flowerpot cupcake moulds from Target?  I got some at the end of last season and didn’t really have a chance to use them, but this year, I’m really excited to do some cute seasonal designs (come on, the Oreo “dirt” cupcake with gummy worms is a standby for a reason!)

These cookie cutters I spotted in Philly bakeware shop Fante – love the idea of doing a batch of cookies shaped like landmarks.  Part of the way there with the famous Philly Love sculpture and the Eiffel Tower – maybe they’ll hear my pleas and do the Palace of Westminster, Edinburgh Castle or Trinity College next, for my other adopted homes?

sweettooth_lr2Fred always makes the best muffin tins!  I definitely have a sweet tooth and I love the cute idea behind this….  A little something for your sweet tooth!

And finally, I stopped by the launch of Poundland‘s first celebrity baking range.  Now, I am all about a baking deal – I troll TK Maxx constantly and I’ve even found some really cute silicon teacuped shaped baking moulds at Pound World – but Jane Asher, celebrity cake maker, has actually personally designed a whole baking range for Poundland.  And of course each item is only 1 pound!

You can see bits of the range up there – they actually look really decent, especially for a pound.  It’ll be really useful to be able to get an extra spatula or cake pop sticks for just a pound on my local high street – nerdy I may be, but I’m definitely going out when it’s released to buy loads of stuff for under a tenner!

So what are you excited about this spring?

  1. This blog was… how do I say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something which helped me.

  2. […] also been totally obsessed with finding pieces of the Jane Asher collection I’ve been blogging about (yep, totally hiking to various Poundlands over the […]
