There is a bit of a cliche about bakers – I think it came from Cath Kidston. There’s this idea that we’re all very warm and friendly and love pink and pastels and cuddles and hugs and sunshine and rainbow and of course, unicorns. Even Bitchin Kitchen has managed to be successful on the Food Network UK by deliberately turning that stereotype on its head.
I wouldn’t consider myself to be a particularly sweet person – the words judgmental, sarcastic and grouchy get used a bit – probably because I can be fairly intense about the things I’m involved in – politics, violence against women, current affairs – and I don’t suffer fools gladly (or at all.)
But baking is the one aspect of my life where I get to be whimsical and happy. Where I can buy the heart-shaped whoopie pie pan and the coastal blue Le Creuset pot. Where I can use fun cookie cutters and experiment with food colouring. And sprinkles – everyone loves sprinkles.
This unicorn sprinkle shaker is a really great thing to have around if, like me, you are constantly adding a dab of sprinkles onto cookies or cakes. It’s a really adorable and useful way to store them and a lot of fun if you’re icing cookies. I’d say it’d be something kids would LOVE and a great way to get them interested in baking and decorating.
Also handy to keep this sprinkles shaker around for some fun desserts – would definitely recommend for people who like to bake and have a sense of playfulness!
I received a free shaker to review from Spinning Hat, but all opinions are my own.
