Birthday Milka Brownies

I am constantly on the look out for candy and chocolate that I can use in baking.  I’m such a dork that I actually constantly browse the Wal-mart website to see what’s new in baking and candy (is that a bit weird?)!  As a result, when the lovely Lulu from Cybercandy gave me the option to review one of their new products, I jumped at the chance to review this new Milka Birthday chocolate bar.  Why?  Because I thouht it would make the perfect brownie!

DSC_0247I’ve also been a massive Milka fan – as a little girl in Germany, I used to save my allowance so that I could afford Alpine Milk Creme Bars.  But the birthday cake bar is a really good fit for brownies – in addition to having that creamy Milka chocolate, about half the bar is composed of white chocolate, which makes for a great texture for a brownie.  I was really happy with this recipe, and I’d definitely recommend using this Milka bar to get it right!

Multi Chocolate Brownies (adapted from a recipe from the Velvet Moon Baker)

Ingredients:

175g Milka chocolate

175g unsalted butter

3 eggs

250g caster sugar

75g plain flour

40g cocoa powder

DSC_0246Cream butter and sugar together.  Melt the chocolate and the unsalted butter together in a saucepan.  Add the chocolate mixture into the saucepan.

Mix in eggs.  Sift in flour and cocoa.

DSC_0143Pour into a roasting pan lined with baking paper.  Bake for 40-45 minutes at 180C.

DSC_0148Once you can put a fork in and it comes out clean, it’s done.  Allow to cool completely, then cut into pieces.
